Investment Banking Resume Review

A banking resume should let a reader identify the assignment, your analytical contribution and the boundary of your ownership. Use the following audit before deciding whether you need editing support.

Audit one bullet, not the whole page at once

Fictional revision: “Reconciled EBITDA adjustments from public filings for the selected peer set, supporting a sell-side valuation.” The improvement comes from revealing the task, not adding a prestigious client or an unverified deal value. Be ready to explain one adjustment and who reviewed it.

Decide whether the problem is evidence or writing

If you cannot fill in the contribution column, gather an accurate account of your responsibilities before editing. If the facts are clear but buried in vague language, rewrite one bullet yourself using assignment, action and use. If the whole document targets several unrelated roles, decide which role family comes first before buying a rewrite.

A review fits when you can implement feedback and mainly need diagnosis. A rewrite fits when the underlying experience is real but the structure and positioning need reconstruction. Neither creates experience. Start with the impact-without-numbers exercise if the missing ingredient is a measurable result.

Check the final document

Use readable fonts and consistent dates rather than treating a particular font as an employer rule. Follow the posting’s requested format and include required facts even when they are not your strongest selling points.
