WORK THROUGH THE DECISION

Show the repayment decision behind the model

A private-credit resume needs to show what you investigated about repayment. “Built an LBO model” may identify a tool, but it does not tell the reader whether you examined liquidity, debt service, documentation or recovery.

Map your work to a lending question

Your actual workCredit question it supportsEvidence to explain in an interview
Earnings reconciliationHow much cash-generating earnings are recurring? One adjustment you accepted or challenged
Debt scheduleCan the borrower service obligations?Cash interest versus PIK and maturity timing
Liquidity sensitivityCan it fund operations during stress?Minimum cash and working-capital assumptions
Recovery analysisWhat protects the lender if performance fails?Collateral and priority assumptions

Fictional bullet: “Modeled monthly liquidity under delayed customer collections, separating cash interest from PIK accrual to identify periods below the assumed operating-cash minimum.” This describes a contribution. It does not claim you approved the loan or prevented a default.

Distinguish the model from the decision

Prepare a private, nonconfidential explanation with four sentences: what risk you tested, what input changed, what the model showed, and what decision or further diligence it supported. If you only updated an existing model, say so. If the transaction did not close, preserve that status.

The cancelled-transaction example helps avoid implying an investment was completed. The PIK exercise can test whether you understand the mechanism you named. A resume editor cannot validate your credit judgment from a vague deal label.

Choose the right level of support

Try a DIY rewrite if the task is simply unclear. Seek a review if you want feedback on which credit evidence is visible. Consider advanced rewrite scope when several permitted deals need reconstruction, but first remove protected details using the confidentiality checklist. Do not send confidential credit memoranda as intake material.

For general writing principles, see Harvard’s resume guidance. Inspect the resume-services examples to evaluate the kind of editorial work available; they are fictional demonstrations, not verified placement outcomes.

Choose support only for the gap you found

Useful for: Credit candidates whose deal descriptions need a clearer link from analysis to repayment risk.

Limit: A resume service does not replace credit training, verify borrower facts or certify investment judgment.

A standard review gives written feedback for you to implement; a rewrite rebuilds one resume for one target role family. Standard review: $149. Standard rewrite: $349. Transaction-heavy or substantial transition work may require advanced scope; compare the included work before choosing.

The sample bullet rewrites below are illustrative. Use only responsibilities, figures and outcomes you can substantiate; they are not client placement results.

Private credit AUM surpassed $1.7T globally in 2025 and is projected to reach $2.8T by 2028. Competition for direct lending seats is intensifying, your resume must demonstrate credit judgment and origination impact, not just deal participation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a private credit resume different from private equity?

Private credit resumes center on credit judgment, underwriting discipline, downside protection, and covenant structuring, rather than equity value creation. We help you emphasize risk-adjusted returns, portfolio loss rates, and borrower monitoring rather than IRRs and MOIC. The narrative shifts from 'I built value' to 'I protected capital and priced risk correctly.'

What metrics matter most for private credit roles?

Hiring managers want to see committed capital originated, number of deals closed, portfolio size under monitoring, covenant compliance rates, default and loss metrics, and yield/spread performance. We'll help you quantify your full credit lifecycle, from origination through portfolio exit or repayment.

How do I transition from leveraged finance banking to private credit?

We reposition your leveraged finance experience around credit ownership and principal investing. Instead of highlighting syndication and execution, we frame your work around credit selection, hold vs. sell decisions, borrower diligence, and the underwriting judgment that direct lenders value most. Sponsor relationships translate directly, we make sure that shows.

Do you cover both sponsor and non-sponsor direct lending?

Yes. Whether you focus on sponsor-backed middle-market lending, non-sponsor direct origination, asset-based lending, or specialty finance, we tailor the positioning to your target strategy. Each sub-vertical has different expectations, and we calibrate your resume accordingly.
