THE METHOD

How this tool works

Choose a PDF, DOCX or TXT file, or paste text. The tool extracts readable text locally, identifies limited document-structure clues and shows observations for your review. It does not reproduce an employer’s applicant tracking system.

Inspect the evidence, not a score

Read the preview from top to bottom. Confirm your contact details, employer names, dates and bullets are in a meaningful order. A section-name match is only a clue; it does not prove that another system interpreted your experience correctly.

A parser can miss information inside images or handle tables, columns, text boxes and headers differently. DOCX checks flag these structures where detected. PDF extraction shows its text sequence and page count; the tool does not infer a complete visual-layout audit from that text.

Choose the right input for the question

Use the actual document when you want to inspect text extraction. Pasting text can help review content, but it cannot test the layout or page count of the original. A scanned PDF may require OCR, which this tool does not provide.

For job-specific relevance, continue to the resume-to-job-description checker. For better wording, use the bullet builder with your real actions and evidence. Keep the original document so you can check every change.

WORKED EXAMPLE

A date reads before the wrong role

Suppose a two-column resume looks clear in Word, but the preview lists all dates before all job titles. That is a reason to inspect the layout and try a simpler export. It is not proof that an employer rejected the application. Compare a fresh export with this preview and keep whichever version communicates the history clearly.

Assumptions and limits

  • Files are processed in this browser and are not uploaded or retained by this tool.
  • PDF and DOCX are limited to 5 MB; PDF inspection supports up to 10 pages and 50,000 extracted characters.
  • No OCR, employer-specific ATS emulation, hiring probability, grammar certification or universal compatibility score is provided.
  • DOCX pagination depends on the editor and fonts. PDF page count is observed; pasted text and DOCX do not establish the final printed page count.

Common questions

Does this tell me whether my resume will pass an ATS?

No. It shows one local text extraction and limited readability findings. Employers use different systems and processes. No public checker can promise that every system will parse or accept a document.

Why is my PDF preview empty?

It may be a scanned image, use an unsupported encoding or contain no selectable text. Try exporting a text-based PDF or DOCX from the original editor. If you use OCR, check its names, dates and numbers carefully.

Is my resume uploaded or saved?

No. The file is read by code running in your browser. This tool does not send the file or extracted text to Wall Street Playbook and does not save it after you leave. You can explicitly download the inspection report.
