Summer 2028 names the internship summer, not the graduating class. If you graduate in May 2028, do not assume a Summer 2028 undergraduate internship is your route. Read the exact graduation window before spending an application or changing your resume.
For a concrete example, the Evercore New York M&A Summer 2028 posting specifies December 2028 through June 2029 graduates, checked September 27, 2026. That is one program's rule, not a universal rule for every employer or country.
The three labels to keep separate
| Label | What it tells you | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Summer 2028 analyst | When the internship takes place | Your eligibility without the graduation requirements |
| Class of 2028 | An expected graduation cohort | Whether the vacancy is an internship or a full-time role |
| 2028 full-time analyst | The intended full-time start cycle | An application opening date or permission to apply as an undergraduate intern |
The Goldman Sachs Summer Analyst overview describes students usually in their third or penultimate year. Its New Analyst page describes a separate full-time route. Those pages currently discuss 2027 programs; they support the distinction, not a forecast of 2028 eligibility or deadlines.
Use the four-field eligibility check
Copy four fields into your application tracker: program year, degree level, exact graduation window and your confirmed expected graduation date. Keep role location and any stated work-authorization requirements alongside them.
Then make a decision:
| Your situation | Your next action |
|---|---|
| May 2029 undergraduate; a posting allows December 2028–June 2029 | The date fits. Check every remaining requirement before applying. |
| May 2028 undergraduate; that same posting | The date does not fit. Look for an appropriate full-time or other eligible route. |
| December 2028 graduate; that same posting | The date fits the stated window. Do not reject yourself just because classmates graduate in May. |
| Graduation may change after a transfer or accelerated program | Confirm your academic plan, then clarify ambiguous employer requirements. Do not choose a date solely to pass the form. |
| Master's student viewing an undergraduate analyst posting | Read the degree requirement. A matching year alone does not establish eligibility. |
These are hypothetical applications of a date range, not admissions or immigration advice. A matching graduation date is necessary only where the employer specifies it; it is never sufficient proof that all qualifications are met.
If the form and description disagree
Save the role title, requisition ID and conflicting wording. Contact the recruiting address or support route given by the employer. Avoid submitting guessed information just to get through a required field.
Example clarification:
I am considering [exact program and role ID]. My expected undergraduate graduation date is [month/year]. The description lists [window], while the application form asks [specific question]. Could you clarify which option applies to my circumstances? Thank you.
Keep it factual. A short eligibility question does not need your life story or a request for special treatment. Keep the reply with your application record; do not assume a clarification for one program applies to another.
Once the date fits, prepare the evidence
Your resume, application form and interview introduction should use the same accurate graduation date. If you have not completed a finance internship yet, use the early applicant evidence guide rather than presenting future experience as completed work.
The 2028 recruiting desk connects eligibility to confirmed openings, preparation and employer-specific rules. The Evercore application guide shows why selecting the right program matters when applications are limited.
No guide can determine your eligibility for every role. The current official posting and an authorized employer clarification control the decision.
