THE METHOD
How this tool works
Five distinct templates use your connection, topic, takeaway or update. You can edit the subject and body, check for placeholders, then copy or download. The tool does not send messages.
Match the message to the relationship
A cold introduction needs a concise explanation of who you are and what you want to learn. A shared-community message needs an actual connection. An introduction template is for a person who has already connected you, not someone whose name you plan to mention without permission.
After a conversation, a specific takeaway gives the note context. When reconnecting later, explain a real update or what happened after advice you received. The form keeps these situations separate so every message does not become the same generic request.
Review before opening your email app
Keep one purpose and a reasonable request. Review the subject, recipient name, firm and any implied relationship. A first conversation can be about understanding the work; it does not need to ask for a referral.
The draft is editable because a template cannot know your relationship. Remove wording you would not naturally use. If the conversation already has an email thread, replying there may preserve context better than starting another one.
WORKED EXAMPLE
A follow-up with an actual update
Choose “Reconnect,” enter the forecasting approach discussed in your earlier conversation, and explain that you tried it in a small project. The draft brings those details together. Add a new question only if you have one; a thank-you update can stand on its own.
Assumptions and limits
- All connections, introductions and conversation details come from you.
- Templates are deterministic and do not verify names, email addresses or facts.
- Nothing is sent or scheduled. You review the recipient in your own email app.
- Length and placeholder checks are writing prompts, not deliverability predictions.
Common questions
Does this send an email or find a banker’s address?
No. It prepares a subject and message for you to review, copy or download. It does not look up personal information, connect to your inbox or send anything.
Can I use it for a thank-you or a later follow-up?
Yes. Choose the relevant situation. A thank-you uses a specific conversation takeaway; a reconnect message also asks for a real update so the note has a purpose.
Should every networking message ask for a referral?
No. Choose a request that fits the relationship. The tool supports a small learning request or an update without an ask. It does not infer that someone has agreed to refer you.
