THE METHOD

How this tool works

Save up to 20 stories with a competency and five structured sections. Review missing sections, use a 60-, 90- or 120-second timer, and record your own practice notes. No audio is recorded.

Give your actions the most attention

Situation and task establish the context and your responsibility. The action section should explain the steps you took and why. When the work was collaborative, distinguish your contribution from the team’s overall effort.

A result should describe what happened, with a supported number when useful. Add a reflection about what you learned or would change. For a failure question, honest analysis of a setback can be more relevant than trying to make every event sound successful.

Build a bank of adaptable examples

A story about identifying an error might demonstrate attention to detail, communication or integrity depending on the question. Choose one primary competency to organize it, then practice emphasizing the relevant part instead of repeating an identical script.

The timer is for rehearsal, not a required interview-answer length. After a run, note where you spent too long, skipped a decision or failed to answer the question. Section checks only reveal missing notes; they do not grade the quality of your experience.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Explain an error you caught before a meeting

Describe the report and deadline, the review you owned, how you traced the discrepancy, what changed after you raised it and what you learned about review controls. Keep the outcome specific to what actually happened, then practice answering an attention-to-detail question.

Assumptions and limits

  • Stories and outcomes are supplied by you; the tool does not invent an answer.
  • Notes are organized into an outline, not evaluated by an interviewer or language model.
  • The timer runs locally and does not access your microphone or record you.
  • Up to 20 stories are stored in this browser only. Export your bank to keep a separate copy.

Common questions

Do I need a different story for every question?

Not necessarily. A real example may demonstrate several skills. Practice adapting the relevant action and lesson to the question while keeping the facts consistent.

What if the result was not a success?

Describe the actual outcome and what you learned. For questions about mistakes, setbacks or feedback, your response and subsequent change can be the important evidence.

Does the tool assess my speaking or record my answer?

No. It provides a local countdown and space for your own notes. There is no microphone access, transcription, delivery score or hiring prediction.
