When two internship deadlines conflict, first check whether they govern the same action. An application deadline, campus nomination deadline, assessment deadline and offer-response deadline can all be valid and different. Do not assume the latest date gives you more time.
Create a deadline evidence log
Record the requisition ID, program year, office, action required, exact date and time zone, source URL or email, and the time you checked it. A screenshot is useful for your private records, but a search snippet is not the controlling instruction.
| Fictional source | Date displayed | What it might govern | Next check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Campus careers listing | October 8 | Campus submission | Read the campus instructions |
| Employer posting | October 10 | Employer application | Match the requisition and time zone |
| Assessment invitation | October 7, 5 p.m. ET | Assessment completion | Follow the invitation’s instructions |
In this example, submitting an application on October 8 does not satisfy an assessment due October 7. The dates are not interchangeable. These dates are invented for the exercise and are not an employer’s current schedule.
Use a short verification sequence
- Match the program year and requisition. Similar titles may describe different offices or employment types.
- Open the employer’s current posting and your authenticated candidate portal.
- Identify any personalized instruction for your application, such as an assessment invitation.
- If the same action still has inconsistent dates, ask the listed recruiting contact which applies and retain the response.
- When possible, finish before the earliest plausible deadline while you seek clarification. Do not misstate eligibility or rush an inaccurate application merely to meet a disputed date.
A concise message is: “I’m applying to [program, office, requisition]. The posting shows [date/time zone], while [source] shows [other date/time zone] for what appears to be the same submission. Could you confirm the applicable deadline?” Include the conflicting sources; avoid sending multiple messages to unrelated employees.
Do not confuse a competing offer with an application deadline
An offer from another employer creates a separate decision. Do not invent a competing offer to seek faster treatment. JPMorganChase’s current FAQ states that it cannot accelerate its student-program decision process because of another offer’s deadline. Other employers may have different policies, so verify the relevant one rather than assuming a general rule.
For Summer 2028, use the verified recruiting desk for cycle-specific sources. This article does not establish any bank’s 2028 opening or closing date. Add confirmed dates to the application tracker, and keep assessment deadlines separate from the application’s submission status.
